Teresa Ascencao is a photo/video based artist whose work deals with gender constructs through unique cultural perspectives and technological approaches. Her poetic and kitsch artworks explore the effects of tradition and pop culture on gender constructs and often seduce the viewer through out-of-the-ordinary interactivity. Ascencao teaches digital photography and video at the Toronto School of Art and through Ontario Arts Council Artists in Education Program at various elementary schools.
